Prior to establishing Equity JV, Julia and Vicki came from diverse backgrounds in business, banking, investment, and corporate governance. The founders are commercial by nature and back their views with research and data when they bring a gender lens to the worlds of commerce and investment. This provides the unique ability to translate and traverse the divide between existing and emerging views in business and finance.
A corporate professional, in her 25-year career Julia has worked in large and multinational companies in strategy, finance and sales roles in Australia and Asia. For the last decade she has worked as a company director and chair, as well as led national NFP organisations.
Julia is a strategic thinker and brings strong commercial focus to all her work, backed by years in business. She came across gender lens investing (and Vicki) during a workshop led by Connecticut based think-tank, Criterion Institute.
She was struck by the potential of this practice to enhance asset value as well as address the entrenched equity issues that increase economic externalities and cost governments, society and finance alike.
Together they co-authored the Due Diligence Guide for Australian Investors as well as assisted Criterion Institute and Unicef to complete a due diligence guide which assists investors to understand the increased risks created by the Covid 19 pandemic.
Julia (GAICD) holds an MBA (Chicago), a Grad Dip Applied Finance (FinSia) and Bachelor degrees in Arts and Commerce.
With over 20 years experience in the Financial Services industry, Vicki spent over a decade as a senior Private Banker based in Sydney. Working closely with High Net Worth investors and Philanthropists, Family Offices, Entrepreneurs and Investment advisers has given Vicki unique insight into investment decision making, succession challenges and legacy creation.
Consulting with the key influencers and wealth holders of Australia, she has observed a shift in social responsibility and purposeful capital. Applying a gendered-lens became a focus of her research.
Taking a sabbatical to immerse herself in social change strategies and completing pro bono work as part of the Community of Practice "Using Finance as a Tool to address Gender-Based Violence" with Criterion Institute, Vicki came together with Julia to co-author the Due Diligence Guide for Australian Investors.
These learnings and connections, together with Vicki's consultative style, provide the expertise and skills needed to help clients navigate a pathway to execute on their values and purpose.
Vicki holds a Bachelor of Business (Management and Contemporary/Social Marketing) and a Diploma of Financial Services (Financial Planning).
Currently, Vicki has stepped away from our consulting work to join the Workplace Gender Equality Agency in the role of Senior Advisor. Vicki will work directly with the employers of Australia to accelerate action on gender equality.
